Name or Address Changes

If you determine that you need to update names and addresses within PPRS, there may be a few places to update.

  1. ACOL Client Account

This is the account (or accounts) that all users are associated with. It is at this level that the account balance is maintained to pay for PPR searches and/or registrations. You can make some changes through https://acs.acol.ca using the “Account Status” function or by using the ACOL Client Account Change Request form.

  2. PPR Client (Registrant)

The PPR Client identifies the registrant information for registrations performed by any users in the ACOL Client Account. There will be a PPR Client in each jurisdiction where registration actions are performed. The names and addresses for each PPR Client can be modified by using the “Update PPR Client Information” function when logged on to PPRS (https://pprs.acol.ca).

  3. Secured Parties using “Same As Registrant”

New registrations that are created using “same as registrant” for the secured party number will use the PPR Client information. Note: See below for how to update existing registrations.

  4. Secured Parties using Secured Party Numbers

You may have one or more secured party numbers that can be used in registrations. The name and address of the secured party records can be modified by using the “Update Secured Party Number Information” function when logged on to PPRS. New registrations that are created using the secured party number will use the SP# information. Note: See below for how to update existing registrations.

  5. Existing Registrations

To update secured party information on existing registrations, you may have to perform multiple steps.

    1. Secured Party information entered without using a secured party number (i.e. not using “same as registrant” nor a secured party number): You must use the “Amend a Registration” function when logged on to PPRS.

    2. Secured Party information using “same as registrant”: If you used “same as registrant” (PPR Client SP#) for your secured party number,
      1. You must first update the PPR Client information (see above).
      2. Then you can use 1) the “Global Change of Registered Interest” function or 2) the “Amend a Registration” function when logged on to PPRS.
Note the difference in fees for each function (you can find the fees at www.acol.ca/pprs underneath the jurisdictions menu option).

    3. Secured Party information using a Secured Party Number: If you used a secured party number for your registrations,
      1. You must first update the secured party number information (see above).
      2. Then you can use 1) the “Global Change of Registered Interest” function or 2) the “Amend a Registration” function when logged on to PPRS.
Note the difference in fees for each function (you can find the fees at www.acol.ca/pprs underneath the jurisdictions menu option).
