Introduction to ACOL
ACOL helps governments create and deliver secure online services to individuals and businesses.
ACOL has evolved since its inception in 1996 from hosting one account-based registry service for one province, to adding services for three more provinces and three territories as well as many municipalities, to providing multiple services for individuals and businesses of the jurisdictions, to hosting payment services and much much more.

Seven jurisdictions and ten municipalities currently use ACOL for the delivery of online services to their citizen and business clients. Included are the four original partners in the ACOL Master Strategic Alliance Agreement: New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. In addition Northwest Territories and Nunavut joined ACOL in the early 2000's, and Yukon in 2016.
In Nova Scotia ten municipalities have leveraged ACOL through their provincial government to offer services to their clients online.
Atlantic Canada On-Line, or ACOL, is an alliance between the Provinces of New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Unisys Canada Inc. The goal of the alliance is to share in creating and operating online government services.
Unisys has committed to investing in the design, development, and management of the ACOL business and technology infrastructure and in return has been granted the exclusive, non-transferable right and licence to use the trademarks “Atlantic Canada On-Line” and “ACOL”, registered official marks of the Provinces of New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, and the non-exclusive and non-transferable right and licence to access provincial databases.
