Here are some suggestions for avoiding password problems:
1. Choose a password that you can remember. How? Passphrases? Acronyms? Letter codes? Our advice: use the Internet to learn a technique that will work for you. 2. Don't share your user ID with another person. Besides the other security risks of sharing a user ID, shared user IDs often lead to password problems. One person will change the password, and then another person will be unable to login.
3. Use strong passwords and protect them. The worst password problem is being hacked. Your user ID and password identify you and provide access to your account. Protect them.
"I've forgotten my password."
Unfortunately, forgotten passwords are a common problem, particularly for users who do not access ACOL services for weeks or months at a time.
All users: If you forget your password, one of your account's Contact (administrative) users can reset the password to a value that you can use to login. You will be prompted to change your password after you login. If a Contact user is not available, or if you are the Prime Contact for your account, call the ACOL CSC for assistance.
Contact (administrative) users: You can help one of your account's users login via ACS Change Another User's Password. When you change another user's password, the user will be forced to change their password immediately after logging in.
User ID and password are the credentials required in order to login. The User ID is a protected value that you and your organization must track.
All users: Your User ID is included within PPRS Verification Statements and Search Result Reports. Check one of your recent reports to identify your User ID. One of your Contact (administrative) users may also be able to help you. If you need further assistance, contact the Client Support Centre.
Contact users: Your account's full list of users was provided with the ACOL Welcome Package for your account. For a current list of users, contact the Client Support Centre.
Your ACOL client account number is the unique identifying number for your account. Your account number will be "UA" followed by six digits, for example: UA123456.
If you are able to login, you can see your account number and the current account contact information via ACS User Information.
Your account number is also listed in the following documents and reports:
- Your ACOL Welcome Package (sent by ACOL when your account application was approved).
- Account Statement reports (listed as "Client ID").
If you are confidant that you have an ACOL account, but are not able to login and are not able to locate a document containing the account number, please contact the Client Support Centre for additional assistance.
