The Personal Property Registry (PPR) provides remote and convenient access to information about personal property security notices for more effective commercial and consumer protection. The Lien Check Service provides Internet access to the PPR to identify liens on personal property that is a motor vehicle, trailer, mobile home, airplane, boat, or outboard motor via the Internet (an ACOL Client Account is not required). This can help protect you from purchasing personal property that may be subject to seizure. The electronic province-wide system came into effect on 3 November 1997, with the introduction of a new Personal Property Security Act, and the Lien Check Service was introduced on 16 June 2004.
