Being Ready for Browser-based PPRS Registration

25 November 2004

When browser-based registration functions are introduced, ACOL Desktop Software search, registration and administration functions will be discontinued. In order to be prepared for introduction of browser-based PPRS registration functions, ACOL clients are advised to confirm their access to the PPRS web browser interface as soon as possible. To do so, each user should perform the following:

  1. Go to ACOL Desktop Software, Retrieve Reports and view the report titled "Access to PPRS Refresh" in order to acquire your new password.

  2. Follow the instructions within the "Access to PPRS Refresh" report including changing the initial password and updating user information. Within User Information, be sure to set your preferred Report Language for PPRS reports.

ACOL clients should also be aware of the following changes associated with introduction of browser-based PPRS registration functions:

  1. The only ACOL Desktop Software function that will remain available is Retrieve Reports. This will provide access to unexpired PPRS reports produced prior to the Desktop Software being discontinued.

  2. Notice to Secured Party reports resulting from browser-based amendment, discharge and re-register registrations will be distributed via browser-based Retrieve Reports.

  3. Browser-based registrations will use new, simplified addresses: three (3) address line fields replace all current address fields with the exception of the Place Name, Province/Territory/State, Country and Postal/Zip Code.

  4. Some special characters will be replaced or rejected by PPRS. See bulletin "Character support changes in Browser-based PPRS".

  5. All new PPRS reports will be produced in portable document format (PDF).
